One of my favourite things in life are farmer’s markets. I started going to the one in Edmonton when I got back from Afghanistan, driving early (in the dark during winter, and through the snow, my least favourite thing!) through downtown, to get to the big beautiful Strathcona Farmer’s Market.
I never pass up an opportunity to meet up with friends at the St Albert street market on during the summer months. I always go to the greenhouses when I’m in Medicine Hat, and when summer rolls around in Red Deer, we’ve waited all winter for the market to open up and we’re going rain or shine!
One of the big things on the itinerary for the extraordinary London trip of 2013 was lots and lots of market visits. Including the foodie paradise, Borough Market.
So it’s shocking that it’s taken me this long to go to the market here in Edinburgh. Actually, it’s not that shocking, I’m pretty lazy, and it rains a lot in Scotland and I didn’t want to get wet. But I finally went! And it was awesome!
Admittedly I went to the smaller Stockbridge Market which happens on Sunday, so I still have to go to the main event, but I had a lovely morning out exploring the city and really enjoyed the smells and sounds of the Stockbridge market.
I was able to get a few super cute pics of some of the tasty treats on offer, some more Scottish than others!
If you’re ever in Edinburgh, I definitely recommend you make the trip.
